Taylor is 5 months old now and sleeping through the night again (thank heavens for every night I can say that!) and we decided it was time to venture out of Atlanta. We went up to the mountains with some friends (thank heavens for friends with houses in Cashiers!). I've found that we're never going to plan a perfect trip or vacation, but if we can find a workable solution to every problem that comes our way, we're doing okay as parents. Here are some examples:
First challenge: we forgot to find someone to take care of Scout. Jordan stepped up to plate and dog-sat for us this weekend. Thank you, Uncle Bug, you're the best!
Second challenge: we didn't open the pack-and-play before getting to the mountaintop at 8:30 pm on Friday night and apparently forgot the mattress pad that goes inside. Therefore, the pack-and-play was useless (think deathtrap with two metal bars criss-crossing right into Taylor's back and tummy). T-bird slept in a plastic playpen on a comforter and seemed to be just fine.
Third challenge: Paul's car broke down in SC. Taylor and I rode home with Robbie, Blake, and Oscar while Paul rode in the tow-truck with his new friend Michael. (Thank heavens for AAA services!) Poor Paul was stuck at a small-town gas station in SC for 2 hours by himself with a car leaking power steering fluid and smoking due to the heat. Glad he made it home safe and sound (albeit without a cell phone, which was left in the tow truck).
All in all, great weekend, great time with friends, great chance to get out of town, and great solutions when issues came our way. Next stop - CHARLOTTE this weekend!

OMGoodness at the challenges!!!! I think you guys handled it all like great parents. There is one thing you will become-----creative in all ways!!!!
Thanks for sharing this little blog---it was cute. Glad the challenges didnt stop you from having fun and planning to travel again. Remember, think outside the box and all will be fine.
